2 days

I just finished my last day of work. Everyone (aka my coworkers and my boss) was saying to have a good time, don't stress out, and to not party too hard. That's what I plan on.

But it still seems kind of unreal to me. I'm like... am i really leaving? I AM going away to college?

I just realized that I never told you where I'm going. I'm attending American University, located in Washington D.C. What better place to major in communications than the nation's capital?

...i still need to figure out a minor though. and i know i have time, so i won't worry about it too much right now.

Anyway, back to my train of thought. Going away to school? fun. but still a little scary.

Again.
Nervous? A bit.
Excited? Oh yeah.
Anxious? very.

3 days (well, technically 2)

Well, besides working my butt off to get money for books for college, i've been packing, packing, packing.
Sounds like a blast, eh? Not so much. I didn't realize how much clothing i'd be bringing to school.
SURPRISE! i filled up one of those big tubs full. wahoo.

Anyway, I had a get-together with some of my close friends. I figured I wouldn't see them until winter break (i have a short thanksgiving break, and ONE day off for fall break).
It was bittersweet for me, because i realized that it would be a few months before i'd see my amazing friends again.
I'm trying not to cry right now because i miss them already, and we said our goodbye (for now)s a half hour ago.

The get-together lasted a long time though, 5 HOURS! I told people that the times were 7-10, because i do have to work tomorrow.
One of my work friends came, so that was nice. She even brought a "college survival kit" for me, aka a bag with ramen noodles and LOADS of candy.
Honestly, I'm trying to avoid the freshman 15 (even if it is a myth) but she is such a sweetie. People stayed til midnight, so i guess they had fun.

Right now, i'm trying to get myself to get excited for moving in and all of the amazing people i'll meet, but part of me still doesn't want to leave.
my friends leave at the end of next week or in 2 weeks. Soooo sad.

But moving in and meeting new people should be fun, right? (well, maybe not moving...)
I talked to my cousin who lives a few states away and she goes to Queens college.
The one piece of advice she gave me was that I should introduce myself to everyone and be a little obnoxious.
That way, I'll get to know LOTS of people.

Should I be a socialite? I don't even know what clubs/groups I want to join!
Help me out!!

7 Days!

I feel like quoting the song by the Barenaked Ladies - "One Week"
There's only one week left! Yay! (but i am still nervous)

I found the comforter! It took me 6 different stores to find it: Bed Bath and Beyond (i went to two different locations), Macy's, Boscov's, Sears, and Kohl's. Found it at Kohl's. Probably my favorite store of all time. I also got two sets of sheets while I was there, so I am set in the bedding department.

I bought a lapdesk and a "husband" (that's the official name of it- it's a cushion that wraps around you, hence "husband") the other day.

I've also started packing clothes, and it's hard to decide what clothes I want to leave here (or plan on wearing this last week) and what clothes I want to bring with me.

Good news! I got two sets of storage drawers, two underbed storage bins, AND a trashcan for FREE! my mom's friend has a bunch of storage stuff that ex-college kids gave to her (don't know why) and we washed them out.
so i'm bringing the dorm trash can. wahoo.

Also, my roommates and I have decided what bunks we want.
